Foodie alphabet

A side project i've been working on. Here are some of my favorite letters closer up.

Captain Tom

I forgot I made this until I found it in a pile of papers this morning. I went to New Orleans a couple months ago and my friends and I went on a swamp tour guided by Captain Tom. He taught us about leeches, snakes, giant rats, vicious turtles and much more. He is the best tour guide ever. Listen to him and his fab N'awlins accent here.

OC Weekly and The Improper Bostonian

This one was for the OC Weekly. I was really excited when Laila Derakhshanian asked me to do something for this story because it was a more serious subject than what I have been getting for assignments lately. The story involves a cop who was abusing his wife and was able to get away with it for a long time because he asked other officers to look the other way. Read the story here.

This next one is for The Improper Bostonian. It was a really funny article about the different outrageous requests hotel guests have for the staff. Some of them were: Flying in a helicopter from Boston to New Jersey to get special yogurt, having an indoor lawn trimmed so that the guest's dog can go to the bathroom comfortably, and having a zoo keeper bring animals to the room for the guest's child. I also did a few spots for the rest of the hotel package.

Bloody Mary

Here is one for Honolulu magazine's Best of Issue. The article was about the writer's quest for the perfect bloody mary. AD: Cody Kawamoto.

SWERVE

Cover

I had the opportunity to illustrate a cover story for Swerve Magazine which is in Calgary. The story was written by Kate Zimmerman a former Calgarian who now lives in Vancouver. She talks about how Vancouver can be a very lonely and unfriendly place to live. Read about it here.

Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo

Philippe over at Jazz and Draw asked me to contribute something to the blog. In school I took a history of jazz class and I remember liking Afro-Cuban music, particularly the song Manteca.
