Famous Fictional Payroll Show

For Dan Zettwoch's annual Famous Fictional show in St. Louis. Each artist had to select two mascots from advertising, boardgames or sports. I picked Bazooka Joe from Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum and Little Debbie. I figured these two would have crossed paths at some point. I imagined that they got married, had a couple cute kids and had a nice life together.

For the Wall Street Journal. This article was about a woman who enjoys being alone and cooking for herself after a divorce.

These two were for Rhode Island Monthly. The top was a spread for a story about an Italian grandmother who had a separate kitchen built in her backyard so she could feed her large family.

The second is a map of Federal Hill, Rhode Island's Little Italy.

This one was for Nautilus, one of my new favorite publications. Nautilus is an online science magazine that uses a ton of illustration. Every issue is a new theme and each week they release a new chapter on that theme. This issue was "secret codes,"  and the theme was "codes between people." 

My article was about people who learn made up languages. More specifically, Na'vi from the movie Avatar. You can read about it here.

Here is a fun one I contributed to Popshot Magazine's Wild Issue.

A man retires from his job as a lion tamer, only to fall into a downward spiral. In an attempt to get back to what he loves doing best, he makes a dubious decision that ends fatally. 

2014 NPR Wall Calendar

I was asked by Katie Burke to contribute to 2014's NPR calendar along with 12 other amazing illustrators. I was super excited to be apart of the project because I listen to NPR everyday. The only direction that I was given was to illustrate what NPR means to me.

"what I love most about NPR is learning about different cultures, food music and people's stories from around the world. I get a connection to experiences that I would not have otherwise. So until I can get around the globe and witness for myself, it's all about NPR."
